ST AMBROSE CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
St Ambrose Catholic Primary School at Pottsville opened its doors in 2015, it needed a clean modern logo to compliment the school’s contemporary building and teaching style.
The brief was very clear and called for a triangle to represent the Trinity, a candle to symbolise the light of Christ as well as St Ambrose (who is the patron saint of candlemakers), the cross of Christ, and an open book to represent learning and the Word of God. The school’s colours were well considered and chosen by the Parish Priest and the Principal well before the logo design was considered. Purple is widely used in Pottsville and is considered to be ‘Pottsville’s colour’, the teal is symbolic of the new life Christ won for us as a result of the cross as well as the green bushland around Pottsville and gold symbolises the beeswax candles and honey (the association with bees/honey and St Ambrose stems from the fact that his words were considered to be sweeter than honey).
